Studies indicate that around 10-15% of individuals who meet the full diagnostic criteria of gender dysphoria in childhood will ‘persist’ (i.e. remain distressed by their birth gender) while the 85-90% will subsequently ‘desist’ (graciously accept their birth gender).

Given this reality one wonders just how those involved in promoting and implementing childhood gender transition are able to defy the odds and correctly pick out the odd persister and embark sorting him/her out.

It makes sense that this happened in Germany. German education focuses on correcting mistakes rather than uplifting the student. People I know who've studied in Germany describe a very different experience from American university campuses, where every criticism must be matched with "good effort" cookies, lest the poor coddled dears get upset. In Germany, the grader only lists your errors and you are expected to be thankful for learning how you messed up.

And yet German contacts tell me the atmosphere for debate is oppressive! Perhaps this doesn't reach down to the undergraduate level.

I believe your contacts, TBC. I am just saying that the cult nature of this beast rubs against something very German. I would simply expect some Germans to notice things are not right and make a list of them.

Some of the (apparently pretty isolated) sceptics in Germany are very blunt about the incoherence of gender ideology & the nature of paediatric transition.

That's what I expected, the bluntness about what is wrong from those who see it. I would not expect most Germans to see it right now. This is the same country that has the worst "sex work" problem in Europe.
