Although you mentioned a couple of boys in this article, one detransitioner interviewed by Graham Linehan made an observation that it may be harder for boys to find the support to detransition than it is for girls. For girls, all the radfems and GC fems are like “we got you” when they want to detransition, but the boys don’t have that so much. Also, my thoughts are that whilst both females and males can behave pretty badly when they do the trans thing, the girls may be forgiven more easily by women in general when they want to detrans. It’s possible that this isn’t a deliberately judgemental thing, but just a ‘comfort zone’ thing.

Hi Katrina. Certainly true we hear less about the boys, which is why I’ve included both who presented at the forum. It seems that in gender clinics since about 2010-15 boys are outnumbered by girls. It’s true they lack something like the gender critical feminists for support. They may be more reluctant to go public with their stories too. Seems they weren’t all gender non-confirming pre-transition. So there isn’t one strong narrative to put them in the spotlight. B

In the same interview between Graham Linehan and a detransitioner, he mentioned that Stella O’Malley of Genspect observed that boys are starting to trans to ‘female’ in bigger numbers now. This is such a mess. I know it will de-trend, as trends do, but it will leave more damage in its wake than any other trend. But I’m sure I’m singing to the choir here 🙂
