I have ‘summarised’ the findings of three recent European studies on the long-term outcomes of patients following transgender therapy (the ‘summary’ being simply a copy of the respective ‘conclusions’ of each of the papers).

All three studies referenced are from respected European facilities with extensive experience in addressing gender issues and gender transition.

These studies are easily accessible on the internet and I would encourage those interested in the subject matter to read the complete paper to gain insight into the methodology and legitimacy of the conclusions reached.

It is important to remember that the Australian proponents of the ‘affirmative model’ of gender ‘care’ in children argue that without treatment (that includes puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and mutilating and sterilising surgery) the individual is at great risk of suicide and/or a life of misery.

Karolinska Institute, February 2023 titled:

'Long-Term Follow-Up of Transsexual Persons Undergoing Sex Reassignment Surgery: Cohort Study in Sweden'

Conclusions:

Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria, may not suffice as treatment for transsexualism, and should inspire improved psychiatric and somatic care after sex reassignment for this patient group.

JAMA dated July 27th 2023, titled:

‘Transgender Identity and Suicide Attempts and Mortality in Denmark’

Conclusions:

These observations suggest that not only is the suicide narrative frequently used to justify medically transitioning minors greatly exaggerated, but that medical gender transition is not an effective suicide-prevention measure. The results also suggest that treatment should focus on better control of co-occurring psychiatric illness and on evidence-based suicide-prevention measures in particular for individuals deemed at high risk for suicide.

Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica journaln 2020 titled:

Trends in suicide death risk in transgender people: results from the Amsterdam Cohort of Gender Dysphoria study (1972-2017).

Conclusions:

We observed no increase in suicide death risk over time and even a decrease in suicide death risk in trans women. However, the suicide risk in transgender people is higher than in the general population and seems to occur during every stage of transitioning. It is important to have specific attention for suicide risk in the counselling of this population and in providing suicide prevention

If the conclusions of these three studies are credible then it can be assumed:

• The threat of suicide justifying transition is false.

• The claim that gender transition prevents suicide is false
