It certainly doesn’t sound like an improvement. I am very suspicious of anything Mark Butler and Ged Kearney do.

I think you're nailed it Jillian:

The Parliamentary website summarises work experience prior to entering Parliament for all members, I cite Butler and Kearney's complete work non-parliamentary work as referenced therein:

Mark Butler, Minister for Health & Aged Care: 15 years work with Unions

Ged Kearney: Deputy Minister for Health & Aged Care: 1 year as a nurse followed by 16 years working with Unions.

. . . . This pair would probably be on Centrelink if not parliament

On August 16th 2019, then Federal Minister of Health Greg Hunt wrote to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) seeking advice on the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and adolescents.

RACP’s response included:

“A national inquiry would not increase the scientific evidence available regarding gender dysphoria but would further harm vulnerable patients and their families through increased media and public attention”.

. . . . The RACP advised against an inquiry.

It is surprising that our peak medical body would resist an inquiry into a medical procedure that almost exclusively involved children who were irreversibly surgically mutilated and permanently sterilised, particularly given that the ‘Affirmative Model of Gender Care’ was/is not evidence based..

Five years have passed since that rebuttal, let’s hope something substantive will come from what is now being considered.

They gave that pathetic reply because they outsourced their investigation to “ gender experts” who just happened to be the ones who were working in the clinics administering the affirmative treatment. Conveniently they came to a conclusion which favoured the clinics. It was a typical gutless woke decision by the RACP.

Simple. One side has been prepared to fight harder to obtain the dominant positions which shape policy positions and remain intolerant of any challenge. What remains inexplicable is triumph of the narcissistic embrace of empathy, resulting in the misplaced compassion by folk who have been medically trained over their scientific training.

I note an announcement today in The Conversation of a forthcoming conference in Melbourne in June with all the usual pro trans individuals and groups—an effort to bolster their forces when they can see their deceptions are on increasingly shaky ground and a convenient time and strategy for political persuasion of the NHMRC (and others)?

There's a great 20 minute or so talk by Ivan Florez on what constitutes a trustworthy guideline from the SEGM 2023 NYC conference: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=smRzaGjQU0Y

Highly recommend.

Dr. Florez is a world class expert on this topic.
